Development through fitness

Physical Development

A child’s body will develop at different rates and at  different ages.  Happyimagination provides a variety of activities to meet their needs and capabilities.  The exercises / activities  are fun and not overly challenging so that each child does not feel discouraged to continue or to participate in any upcoming exercises.   It is important that each child develops his or her individual potentialities for control in using their body movement as fully as possible.  A child’s progress should be compared to their prior achievements, and not be compared to other children.

Pictures below show children in different age groups participating in physical activities.

1 year old building leg muscles from bouncing / jumping with the assistance of Mom. This will help develop leg muscles and prepare baby for walking.

Ages 2 .4 years - 3 . They can listen and follow 2 step instructions (for example raise your arms in the air and touch the ground).

Ages 3 - 31/2. Upper and lower body strength is more developed. Balance generally increases as well.

Ages 4 - 4 1/2. Jumping with both feet and landing with both feet solidly. Ability to determine the distance from one hoop to the other.

Age 5. Practicing hand eye coordination. Catching and throwing a ball with basket.

Age 6. Very good muscle control, balance, strength and coordination. As well as engaging in problem solving on finding ways to hold this double boat yoga pose.
